Hometown: The traditional homelands of the Diné (Navajo)
Byron joined the Student Involvement Center in Fall 2022 as the director. He is an alumnus of Fort Lewis College; he earned his bachelor’s degree in English in 2013. As a student, he served as an orientation leader, admissions ambassador, and senator/president with ASLFC. In 2015, Byron earned his master’s degree in higher education and student affairs from New York University. Byron is passionate about working with college students and ensuring they have the best possible experience from start to finish (and beyond)! Byron belongs to the Navajo and Zuni peoples and is very proud of his Indigenous Queer identity.

Hometown: Athens, Ohio
Nicolette is ecstatic about her work at the Fort. Nicolette graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, a Diversity Studies Certificate, and a master’s degree in College Student Personnel. You’ll find her planning New Student and Family Orientation in the Student Involvement Center and supporting our 60 registered student organizations on campus. Nicolette focuses on creating personal connections with students and strives to provide an environment where folks feel welcomed. Nicolette loves to experience the outdoors in her free time by hiking with her partner, dog, and friends. She also loves to de-stress by crafting, singing, and reading books.

McKenna earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Development from Washington State University in 2021. In the SIC, McKenna can be found helping Registered Student Organizations plan their events and advising Student Union Productions in their plentiful events each semester. She strives to make each student feel seen and heard while supporting them in all aspects during their time at FLC. When she’s not in the office, you can find McKenna at the gym, prioritizing her physical and mental health, snuggling her two cats, and supporting FLC sports!
