The Indigenous Society of Psychologists (ISP) is a student chapter of the Society of Indian Psychologists (SIP) ultimately striving to represent Indigenous psychologists by raising awareness and advocating for the mental well-being of Indigenous peoples. Water system sustainability education The goal of this effort is to build ownership and stewardship of the water system. Specific goals include: 1. Use water responsibly by not leaving taps running and not filling pilas (basins) 2. Understand that the system provides a limited amount of what that everyone has to share 3. Understand that the amount of water a house receives varies depending on where the house is located in the system and that if ”upstream” houses use more than their share “downstream” users may not get any water. 4. Understand that it is the job of everyone in the community to make sure the system is working and in good repair by supporting the water committee. 5. Understand that everyone has to pay a fee (monthly, bimonthly, etc) which will be used to maintain the system. *Women’s outreach – the goal is to empower women to be sustainability leaders by their targeted inclusion in this important dialog.
