About Professor Amy Wendland

Amy Wendland  joined the college in 2000 and served as chair of the department from 2007 to 2010. Ms. Wendland has a background in commercial art and design and worked for a decade as a freelance illustrator and designer before returning to graduate school. Her artwork utilizes a combination of humor, offbeat materials and craft. Ms. Wendland’s drawings, sculptures and artist’s books have been exhibited nationally, most recently in Maryland, Kentucky, Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. 

Ms. Wendland was awarded Fort Lewis College’s Alice Admire Outstanding Teaching Award in 2009. She has received numerous awards for her artwork, including the Farmington Museum Purchase Award at the Northern New Mexico Arts Council National Juried Art Show in 2011. Ms. Wendland served as the faculty representative to the FLC Board of Trustees from 2012 to 2014.
