The following organizations assist under-represented students interested in careers in the sciences:

National Institutes of Health General Medical Sciences

The U-RISE Program is funded by the National Institutes of Health General Medical Sciences. NIGMS supports biomedical and behavioral research training programs that help provide the most critical element of good research: well-prepared scientists. The National Institutes of Health and NIGMS encourage institutions to diversify their student populations and thus to increase the participation of individuals currently underrepresented in the biomedical, clinical, behavioral and social sciences.

Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics & Native Americans in Science

SACNAS is a society of scientists dedicated to fostering the success of Hispanic/Chicano and Native American scientists—from college students to professionals—in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership.

Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students

The Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) is a national conference designed to encourage undergraduate, postbaccalaureate and graduate students to pursue advanced training in the biomedical and behavioral sciences, including mathematics.

American Indian Science and Engineering Society

AISES, the American Indian Science and Engineering Society, has worked to substantially increase American Indian/Alaska Native representation in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields - as students, professionals, mentors, and leaders.
