The Faculty Senate is the representational governing arm of the College faculty as provided in the Constitution of the Fort Lewis College Faculty, which states: "The Faculty has a solemn professional commitment to the pursuit of academic excellence in knowledge and learning and to govern itself in this pursuit." See the Faculty Handbook for the full text of the constitution. All faculty members are encouraged to be knowledgeable on issues regarding campus policy and academics, as well as the broader issues of higher education in Colorado, especially those directly affecting Fort Lewis College. Know your senators and let them know your concerns! The Senate will work at keeping all faculty informed through regular communication, including use of this web site to post agendas, minutes, announcements, election information, and documents relevant to the Senate and faculty governance. The Senate also communicates to the faculty through the Senate email discussion list. (If a faculty member, regular or visiting, does not receive messages from the list, please contact Michael Valdez.) Senate meetings are open to all who wish to attend, while voting is restricted to elected members.
