Pre-Race:

Packet pickup will be from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, out on the grassy area just past the FLC Whalen Gym (near the Transition Area that by then will be set up). In case of inclement weather, Plan B packet pickup will be at the Durango Performance Center inside Skyhawk Hall (the small building closest to the football field/track) – FLC campus. There will also be a late packet pickup available on race morning from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m., but it’s advisable to pick up your packet Saturday so that you have plenty of time race morning to prepare.

Inside your race packet: Tee (if you registered early), bike helmet race number and race bib number with safety pins. You’ll be given a timing chip/band on race morning.

  • Place the bike helmet number sticker on the FRONT of your helmet. The bike course is 3 laps, and course marshals will need to see your number so that you will get credit for completing each lap.
  • Either pin the race bib number on the front of your racing shirt/tri-suit, or attach it to a race belt. You can either wear it throughout the race, put it on at the start of the bike or just before the run. But you must have it on for the run and the finish.

Race Morning:

We recommend that you park in the Stadium Lot – the large parking area northeast of the football field/track. You can walk down to the track level then take a left past the gym to the transition area.

The order of events is Swim – Bike – Run

Transition Area opens at 7:00 a.m. Only participants are allowed in the transition area. Place your bike on the bike rack, hang by the front tip of your saddle. Alternate facing direction of bike with the bike next to you. Please take up no more than 2 feet wide of space for your transition items.  Take some time to find the Swim In, Bike Out, Bike In, Run Out entrance/exits.

This is a chip timed race. Pick up your timing chip at the table located near transition area. Wear it snug around your left ankle. Relay teams will need to transfer the chip at each leg of the race.

Race briefing – there will be a short briefing at 8:30 a.m. After the race briefing, participants will begin to line up by race number for the swim start. We should be able to get everyone lined up inside the aquatic center for a tentative 9:00 a.m. swim start (first 12 swimmers). The outdoor temps should be comfortable by the time the first swimmers finish their swim leg and begin the bike leg.

Please review the Course Information for details and instructions for the Swim, Bike and Run.

There will be post-race snacks for all participants and volunteers only. An awards ceremony will be held immediately after the last participant has finished. It is tentatively set for 12:30 but this could change.

BE SAFE AND HAVE FUN!!!
