The Compass program is an alternative and conditional admission pathway for first-year students who have the potential for a rewarding college experience.

Beginning four weeks before the fall term and throughout your first year, the Compass Program will help you to explore campus early, make friends, and have mentors with you each step of the way!

Take your first class

Start with the 4-week Summer Bridge Program and earn 4 college credits. You'll build connections with classmates, professors, and mentors.

On-campus students live in traditional residence halls with their Compass Communities. Connect with classmates and find your footing.

Be successful

Your Academic Success Coach will help you take advantage of first-year opportunities. You will also take a one-credit student success course in the spring.

Compass Program includes free room and board for Summer Bridge Program. Participants are eligible for scholarships at the end of the year.

Who qualifies for the Compass Program?

First-year students identified for the Compass program generally fall below the average GPA for admitted students (3.0-3.8).
 

Do I have to participate if I receive acceptance into the program?

Yes. Students must be in the Compass Program as part of their conditional admission to FLC.

How do I register?

Your offer letter from FLC explains the program. Go to your application portal and accept your admission offer under the condition that you participate in the Compass Program.

What is the application deadline?

Confirm your enrollment and pay the $235 enrollment fee by May 1, 2023.

When does the program start?

You'll settle into campus on Saturday, July 29, and start the Summer Bridge Program the following Monday.

Can I still participate if I wasn't admitted as a Compass student? 

Students who are not part of the Compass program can register for the four-week Summer Bridge program and will be admitted to the Bridge program on a space-available basis.
