Welcome to Peak Experiences

One of the best ways to transition to college life is through participation in one of our Peak Experiences. Whether it's hiking through the San Juan mountain range, touring a local farm, engaging in cultural activities, or challenging your leadership beliefs, this will be an amazing way to begin your academic adventure at FLC!

Financial assistance is available for those that qualify.

Native Skyway to Success: The Native First Year Experience (NS2S)

NS2S participants will interact with peers from multiple tribal communities. Over 170 tribal nations are represented at Fort Lewis College from as far north as the Arctic Circle to the Southern reaches of the eastern seaboard.  You will build community through experiential development, and focus on building academic capital within the College community so that your first year of college is a success.

Summit the San Juans

Start your college career off with an exhilarating five-day backpacking trip through the rugged and beautiful San Juan Mountains.  Your new backyard is full of alpine meadows, trout filled lakes, deep forests, and jagged high peaks, so why not explore it with a group of your new peers?  This backcountry experience is led by student leaders who have been trained in wilderness first aid, Leave-No-Trace ethics and group facilitation skills.

For those of you who want to make a difference and find your place in the world, here’s your chance. Get your hands dirty and learn about ways you can make a positive impact. Whether it’s growing food, growing your leadership skills, growing your connections to new people, or growing a love for this amazing place we call home, this peak experience has something for everyone.
