Students are automatically registered for New Student Orientation when they register for classes with an Advisor. Orientation for Family members is strongly encouraged (yet optional). Please see the schedules below to better understand the flow of the program so you can make arrangements accordingly. Please note that we receive many calls every year asking about what sessions are important and shouldn't be missed. Well, that is a very difficult question to answer because families have different needs. What we can say is that every year we survey attendees and OVERWHELMINGLY we receive positive responses about the entire program. We hope you'll be able to join us.

The purpose of New Student and Family Orientation is to support new members of Fort Lewis College in their transitional year. Our program has been intentionally developed with student success in mind, therefore it is critical that you attend.

We recognize that going to college is a new chapter in the lives of students, parents, relatives, and friends. We want you to know that we are here to ease the transition. Our staff receives specialized training and our programs are designed to ensure that all participants have the opportunity and knowledge to navigate the transition in the most successful way.

It is our pleasure to help and direct you, answer your questions, address your concerns, and learn from you. We believe that orientation is a process, not merely an event. With that in mind, we are your hosts and guides for this next stage in your journey to a successful academic experience.

Fort Lewis College is committed to all programs being accessible for individuals with disabilities. If you are attending Orientation and need disability-related assistance or have questions, please contact the Disability Services Office at 970-247-7383.
