About Dr. Erich Mark Riesen

Erich Riesen is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Fort Lewis College for the 2022-2023 academic year.

He recently defended his dissertation at the University of Colorado, Boulder, under the supervision of David Boonin. His research investigates the ethical consequences of new and foreseeable artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. His paper “The Moral Case for The Development and Use of Autonomous Weapon Systems” is forthcoming in the Journal of Military Ethics. In the dissertation, Erich develops a system-based theoretical framework for addressing the ethical impact of AI tech. This work was presented at the recent International Society for Military Ethics Conference.
