Remember the “Gorilla Experiment”? If not, it goes like this: participants are asked to watch a video of a group passing a ball back and forth while counting the number of times the ball is passed. All of a sudden, a person in a gorilla suit saunters through the scene. In the end, when asked if they noticed anything strange during the ball passing, a surprising number of observers failed to notice the gorilla due to what’s called inattentional blindness. This phenomenon happens when we’re so focused on one thing that we are unable to notice the unexpected, even when it’s blatant.

Choose from a variety of graduate programs in education including Special Education, and Teaching Licensure, leadership and working with students of diverse backgrounds. You can earn your Master of Arts in Education, a certificate, or pursue non-degree-seeking coursework.
