Join the Campbell Center waitlist

The Campbell Child & Family Center currently places interested families on a waitlist. Enrollment opportunities depend on classroom availability, your child's age, and the Center's enrollment priorities. Families may receive enrollment offers throughout the year as spaces become available, with most fall enrollment offers beginning in the spring.

How to join the waitlist

To add your child to the waitlist, email Campbell-Center-Waitlist@fortlewis.edu with the subject line Waitlist Information. Include the following information:

  1. Each child's first and last name
  2. Each child's date of birth
  3. Parent or guardian names
  4. Contact phone number and email address
  5. Your affiliation with FLC: student, faculty, staff, or community member. FLC students should also include their expected graduation date.
  6. Your preferred enrollment schedule:
    • Year-round
    • School year plus one summer session
    • School year only

You will receive an email confirming your waitlist request. Your waitlist date is the date your original request was emailed. Keep your confirmation email for your records.

The Center director reviews waitlist requests approximately once a month, so confirmation may not be immediate. If you don't have access to email, call 970-247-7679 for assistance joining the waitlist.

How the waitlist works

The classroom maintains waitlists. When a space becomes available, the Center considers families based on enrollment priority and the date they joined the waitlist.

Families are considered in the following priority order:

  1. Fort Lewis College students
  2. Siblings of children currently enrolled at the Center
  3. Fort Lewis College faculty and staff
  4. Community families

Within each priority group, families are considered according to their waitlist dates and available classroom spaces. FLC students must be prepared to provide a certificate of enrollment to verify their student status.

Responding to an enrollment offer

All enrollment offers are sent by email. Keep your contact information up to date and check your email regularly so you don't miss an opportunity.

  • If you accept: The Center will provide instructions for confirming your child's enrollment and completing the required forms.
  • If you postpone: Your child may remain on the waitlist, but their waitlist date will change to the date you decline the offered space.
  • If you don't respond: The Center will consider the offer declined and remove your child from the waitlist.

If your child is removed from the waitlist and you want to rejoin, you must submit a new request. Your new waitlist date will be the date the Center receives that request.

Keeping your waitlist information current

The Center periodically emails families to confirm their contact information and continued interest in enrollment. You must respond to these requests to keep your child on the waitlist. Families who do not respond will be removed.

If your child does not receive a space for fall enrollment, they will remain on the waitlist, provided you continue responding to requests for updates.

As children grow, they advance to the appropriate age-group waitlist. Children already enrolled at the Center typically progress through classrooms together until they reach kindergarten age (5 years old by September 1).

Child care availability can be limited in Durango. We encourage families to explore other local providers while waiting for an opening at the Campbell Center. The Early Childhood Council of La Plata County helps families find licensed child care providers and offers information about early childhood programs and resources. Phone: 970-247-0760

Child care financial assistance

The Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP) helps eligible families pay for child care while working, attending school, or participating in qualifying activities. For eligibility information and application instructions, visit the Colorado Department of Early Childhood or contact the La Plata County Department of Human Services.
