About Dr. Charissa Chiaravalloti
Charissa Chiaravalloti is an associate professor in the Music Department at Fort Lewis College. She joined the college in 2012 and currently serves as the Director of Choral Activities. She coordinates and oversees all aspects of the undergraduate choral program, as well as developing and instructing the Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Men’s Choir, and Hawkapella, an auditioned, highly-select mixed a cappella ensemble. As an instructor of Music and Music Education courses, Chiaravalloti conceptualized and conducted a choral tour to northern Italy, Munich, and Salzburg in 2015. She organizes the annual High School Honor Choir Festival, hosted at Fort Lewis College. Prior to joining the faculty at Fort Lewis College, Chiaravalloti was an Assistant Chorus Master for the Phoenix Symphony, a Faculty Associate at Arizona State University, the Director of Performing Arts for Colorado Northwestern Community College, and the Music Program Coordinator at Whatcom Community College.
Chiaravalloti serves as a faculty liaison to the Artist in Residence committee, which supplies funding for guest artists in the music program, and as a faculty advisor for the National Association for Music Education Student Chapter (National Association for Future Music Educators). She is a member of several professional associations, including the American Choral Director’s Association, the College Music Society, and the National Association for Music Education.
