Ergonomics

Ergonomics is the science of fitting the workplace to the employee.  No more of the “one size fits all” when it comes to the workplace – whether in a classical factory setting, classrooms or office settings.

The science of ergonomics has been around for about 70 years, and has become recognized in the last decade as being more than an academic exercise.  Proper ergonomics in the work place reduces absenteeism, improves employee morale, and has a rapid return on investment.  No employee at Fort Lewis College should suffer from an ergonomic job-related injury.  In fact, the vast majority do not.  Our goal should be to recognize proper ergonomics in our various settings and take appropriate action when ergonomic corrections can be made.

The College follows recommendations made by Pinnacol Assurance, who serves the College in the capacity as our third party administrator for workers’ compensation.
