Theft prevention
Taking a few simple steps can help protect your bicycle from theft:
- Register your bicycle.
- Use a quality bike lock.
- Always lock your bicycle, even for short periods.
- Secure the bicycle frame to a designated bike rack.
- Consider using two locks for added security.
- Keep a record of your bicycle's serial number.

Find your bicycle serial number
Your bicycle's serial number is one of the most important pieces of information for registration and recovery if your bicycle is lost or stolen.
Where to find it
Most bicycle serial numbers are located on the underside of the bottom bracket, where the pedal cranks meet the frame. Turn your bicycle upside down and record the number. If you do not find a serial number there, check other common locations such as the front headset or rear stays.
