Professional Associates extends its support beyond campus through programs that enrich the Four Corners community. From public lectures to business mentorship and local partnerships, PA members share their expertise to strengthen learning, leadership, and connection across the region.

Life-Long Learning series

The Life-Long Learning (LLL) lecture series is one of Professional Associates’ most recognized community programs. Every Thursday evening during the academic year, campus and community members gather at FLC to explore new ideas, hear from experts, and dive into topics that inspire curiosity.

Co-sponsored by the President’s Office, this free lecture series features speakers from a wide range of disciplines and enriches the intellectual life of both Fort Lewis College and the Four Corners region.

Visit the Life-Long Learning page for the current schedule of programs. For more information, contact Professional Associate Gary Rottman at gsorcer@hotmail.com.

Business-related activities

Professional Associates supports the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem through a partnership with the School of Business. PA members serve as advisors to the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), reviewing business plans, strategic plans, and business models for both new and established companies.

Their volunteer expertise helps strengthen local businesses while providing valuable federal support credits to the SBDC.

High school partnerships

PA collaborates with local high schools to introduce students to the opportunities available at Fort Lewis College. Through campus visits, classroom presentations, and participation in college activities, PA helps students envision their future and explore pathways to higher education.

Mountain Studies Institute

PA members also provide leadership and support for the Mountain Studies Institute, an FLC-affiliated program dedicated to research, education, and environmental stewardship across the region. Learn more about the Mountain Studies Institute.
