The ALEKS Math Placement Test helps determine the best math course for you at Fort Lewis College. If you plan to take College Algebra or a higher-level math course, ALEKS can help place you in a class where you’re prepared to be successful.
ALEKS is not required to register for classes. All students receive math placement based on their prior academic work. You may choose to take ALEKS if you want or need a different math placement.

Important notes
Take the test in one sitting for best results, and complete it independently without outside materials, notes, formulas, or other resources. ALEKS is a placement tool, not a graded exam. Your score helps ensure you are placed in the math course where you are most likely to succeed. Using outside resources to earn a higher score may place you in a course that is too advanced for your current math skills.
Retaking the test
You may take the ALEKS Placement Test up to five times. After your first and second attempts, you must wait 48 hours and complete 5 hours of tutoring in ALEKS before taking the test again.
