Pay-It-Forward is an FLC grant program, made possible through the Intuitive Foundation, that is designed to: 1) increase opportunities for students to participate in mentored STEM projects that contribute to human health, community health, global health, or human well-being, 2) help students develop the skills needed to communicate their work effectively to public audiences, 3) increase participation by students from groups that have been historically underrepresented in health-related STEM fields.
Pay-It-Forward provides monetary incentives for students to work alongside faculty mentors over a 7-month period. Selected students will receive ~$5,000, allowing them to step back from part-time jobs and step into research experiences that facilitate their professional paths moving forward. In addition, faculty mentors will receive $2,000 in support of the time and effort required to provide meaningful mentoring throughout the project period.
