A finance approach to business
This major puts economics into a business core, providing the foundation for students interested in finance.
Students will gain an in-depth understanding of how markets work on a macro and micro scale and learn managerial and game theory.
Business economics is also a good springboard for students who want to go on to graduate school for finance, gain a Ph.D. in economics, branch into affiliated areas, and get exposure to accounting, management, and finance.

All students will have the SOBA BA 495 core, a team- based competitive simulation where they bring together their economics, finance, marketing knowledge to run a business, which will also serve as their capstone course. This major also includes the data analysis of real and live data sets.
Students will have the opportunity to intern or work at local, regional, and front-range financial services, have summertime opportunities to be involved in economic impact analyses led by faculty, and be exposed to community engagement and other third-party collaborations with entities like music festivals, Region 9, Animas Surgical Hospital, and other research opportunities.
