A week of mountain bike amazingness

Time trials at Cycling CampCheck out the FLC Cycling High School Mountain Bike Camp in the MTB heaven that is Durango, Colorado. Directed by FLC Cycling Staff, Carson Mussleman, Ian Burnett, Elke Brutsaert, and Chad Cheeney, as well as FLC Cycling team members as ride leaders, these camps are widely known as being the best around for 20+ years.   • Who: High School League racers looking to raise their level in the sport of mountain biking. 14–18 yrs old, girls and boys
  • What: 5 days and 5 nights of MTB paradise.
  • Where: All housing, meals, and rides based from the Fort Lewis College campus.
  • When:
    • June 17-22
    • June 24-29
    • July 15-20
  • Cost: $1,200 - You may choose to pay a deposit of $600 with the remainder due two weeks before camp starts. Or, you can pay the full $1,200 fee. Please DO NOT choose "Cycling Team Dues" on the registration form.

What to expect

Fun is the name of the game but improving skills, gaining knowledge, learning new training techniques and networking with your peers is what makes it one of the best summer camp options around.

Sweet rides everyday right from campus with guest riders the likes of Cole Paton, Savilia Blunk, Sarah Sturm, Riley Amos, Payson McElveen, Todd and Troy Wells, Ruthie Matthes, Ned Overend and other current/former national/world champions.

Work on skills on the on-campus bike park and attend presentations on nutrition, self-care, bike technology, training, bike maintenance from professionals in their fields. All this while exploring 300+ miles of legendary Durango trails.

Camp also includes a mid-week race with the community, group meals at the FLC campus cafeteria and bike games galore. These camps are for the High School cyclist looking to prepare and grow for next season and the years to come.

If you plan to fly, please fly into Durango/LaPlata County (DRO) airport. Our staff will pick up and drop off at the airport. Please make sure that flight arrives in DRO between 1pm and 5pm on the first day of camp (Monday) and return flight is before 10am from DRO.

Flying with your bike

You can fly with your bike. The two airlines that fly into Durango currently charge the below rates to fly with a bike:

American Airlines
Fee: Included in free luggage allowance or if fees apply $25-$35 each way
Maximum Weight and Size: If your bike and case is under 50 lbs and less than 62" it will be considered as your first checked bag.

United Airlines
Fee: Checked bag fee
Maximum Weight and Size: Must be under 50 pounds (23 kg) and/or 62" (158 cm) total linear inches (L + W + H)

You can also use bikeflights.com to ship the bike in advance of camp. This is usually the cheapest option and only takes three days. You can also pay for a return label when you buy the first shipping label.
