Our goal is to provide quality engineering and physics programs within the context of a liberal arts education. We prepare our students for successful careers as engineers, scientists, and technologists as is evidenced by the career and graduate school placement of recent graduates. Graduates of our engineering programs have the skills, training, and flexibility to adapt to tomorrow's demands for modern, interdisciplinary careers in a rapidly changing technological society.

The Fort Lewis College Engineering Physics program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET, the national organization that accredits engineering programs. This assures students that the degreed program prepares students to meet the quality standards established by the profession. This is the only accredited engineering program in western Colorado and the Four Corners region. The ABET accreditation process, for the new (as of September 2010) Bachelors of Science in Engineering (BSE) program, is in progress.
The Engineers Without Borders – Village Aid Project at Fort Lewis College (EWB) is a program that gives students the opportunity to work on engineering related projects in the developing world. Students study, organize, design, and assist in the construction of projects that improve the quality of life in poor communities around the world.
The Department runs an observatory for student observational astronomy/astrophysics research, has space grant programs to develop balloon/rocket payloads, NASA internships, senior seminar/design and other meaningful undergraduate research opportunities.
