To provide excellence in undergraduate physics education focusing on the fundamentals of physics and the scientific method that enables graduates to pursue careers in industry, government, and academia while maintaining breadth in the social context and values of a liberal arts education.

Engineering

Engineering Mission Statement: To provide excellence in undergraduate engineering education focusing on the fundamentals of engineering science and design, that enable graduates to pursue careers in academia, industry and government, while maintaining breadth in the values of a liberal arts education.

Engineering Vision Statement: Engineering is inherently interdisciplinary and global in nature. The engineering marketplace of the 21st century requires graduates with strong fundamental skills that can work in multiple fields, as well as a background that includes an understanding of issues outside of the technical rigors of engineering. Graduates need the flexibility to adapt to new technologies and the ability to function in the global marketplace. An education that emphasizes broad exposure to engineering fundamentals coupled with a strong background in the sciences, mathematics, social sciences, and the humanities will prepare students to meet these challenges.

Computer Engineering

Computer Engineering Mission Statement: To provide excellence in undergraduate education focusing on the fundamental computer engineering principles and its applications, that enable graduates to pursue successful careers, address global challenges, and service the community at large.

Computer Engineering Vision Statement: Computer engineering blends computer science and electrical engineering to further advances in digital technology, computer networking, and computer systems. By bridging engineering and computer science, computer engineers develop software that they integrate with complex devices like microcontrollers, robots, remote sensors, self-driving vehicles, rovers, probes, drones, planes, spacecraft, and even smartphones. Graduates need the flexibility to adapt to new technologies and the ability to function in the global marketplace. An education that emphasizes both programming software and designing electronic devices, coupled with a strong background in the sciences, mathematics, social sciences, and the humanities will prepare students to meet these challenges.
