Highlights In 2015, Dr. Gore published The Little Book of Financial Accounting, Kendall Hunt Publishing Company. About the Book The Little Book of Financial Accounting was written for introductory business students who need to understand accounting, but do not necessarily want to become accountants. The book strives to provide a more intuitive learning experience by focusing solely on the most important concepts and techniques and eliminating accounting jargon whenever possible. The book is also organized into short modules, which can be read in a single sitting (in contrast to extensive chapters of traditional textbooks). The book provides a framework for classifying and linking real-world economic events to the accounting reports. This helps students recognize that the purpose of accounting is to represent the economic reality for an enterprise. Dr. Gore Explains the Project “I enjoyed writing the book in such a way that makes it possible for anyone to learn accounting. I wanted readers to see that accounting is essential for society and also easy and fun to learn.” Journal Articles “Buyer and Seller at Odds: The Economic Consequences of Holding Appreciated Assets in a C Corporation,” Issues in Accounting Education, November 2013 “Snowy Ridge Ski Resort: Fair Value Measurement and the Impairment of Long-term Assets,” Issues in Accounting Education, February 2010 “Is Goodwill an Asset,” The CPA Journal, June 2010
