Maybe the art room was a sanctuary for you in high school. Maybe you love the feel of paint on your fingers as you run it over giant sheets of paper. Maybe you just love art, and love teaching, and want to inspire others to find a similar joy in art. Become an Art K-12 Education major and you’ll combine the study of art with the undergraduate foundation for teacher licensure. With attention to art-making techniques as well as art-teaching skills, this is a rigorous program. Please talk with Art Department and Teacher Education advisors early in your college career if you think this is the path for you.

This program is designed to support you in attaining teacher licensure in Colorado. To teach art in K-12 public schools, you’ll combine the best of an art degree with the academics required for a K-12 Teaching license. Find out more about our K-12 Teaching programs on the Teacher Education Department site.
