About Dr. Lee Ann Harbison

Lee Ann Harbison is an instructor in the Department of Biology at Fort Lewis College. She joined the college in 2008.  Before that, she served on the Biology Department Faculty at University of Texas at Tyler and Northern Arizona University.  She has a doctoral degree in Behavioral Ecology from Northern Arizona University.  Her previous research interests include re-introduction of river otters, seed caching behavior of mammals and analysis of mammalian vocalizations. She is passionate about teaching biology, especially to non-majors, and helping students to develop the critical thinking skills necessary to understand the important current issues in biology.  She has been nominated for and received several teaching awards and fellowships.
