About Emelye Keyser

Emelye Keyser joined Fort Lewis College in 2022. She moved to Durango from Charlottesville, Virginia, where she taught composition and literature courses at the University of Virginia and wrote her Ph.D. on early modern ideas of kingship and political representation in poetry and plays.

Her research is broadly interested in tracing current political and liberal thought back through the centuries to better understand its history and implications. She's also interested in utopian literature, Scottish literature, ecotheory, and science fiction.

When she's not teaching or researching, she can usually be found making a mess with her daughter Imogen or knitting voraciously.
