Suzanne Null is a professor in the Department of Teacher Education at Fort Lewis College. She joined the college in 2010. Null specializes in developing and teaching courses related to teacher preparation, with a focus on secondary education and language arts. Her research interests include writing instruction within school organizations; she is particularly interested in examining how other professions and organizations can inform the teaching profession, and how teachers’ professional knowledge can inform those in other professions and organizations. Prior to joining the faculty at Fort Lewis College, Null served as a teaching associate and project mentor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, a writing tutor at both the University of Colorado, Boulder, and the University of California, Berkeley, and a K-12 English and Language Arts teacher. Null has helped coordinate the South Coast Writing Project’s Young Writer’s Camp, coordinated the Writing Research Without Borders Conference, and co-edited two volumes on international writing research. She has received a number of awards and recognitions, including recently the Fort Lewis College Faculty Development Grant and the Durango Adaptive Sports Association “Hit the Ground Running” volunteer award. She is a member of several professional associations, including the National Writing Project, the National Council of Teachers of English, and the Conference on College Composition and Communication. She serves as an academic reviewer for NCTE English Journal and Journal of Educational Research and Innovation.
