Join Becky Clausen, Professor of Sociology & Human Services, on Friday, September 18 from 12:15-1:15 in EBH 130, to learn about Experiential and Community-Engaged Learning (EXCEL) and how to integrate experiential learning into courses. Participants will learn how to incorporate symposium presentations into project-based courses, proposal writing into courses that require additional funding, and public speaking skill development into their research courses. Participants will also learn how to access funding for course-based experiential learning, including an overview of the EXCEL application process and tips for planning off-campus activities. Examples of successful faculty projects will be shared. The aim of EXCEL is to provide impactful experiences for students for equity, engagement, and retention. By the end of the session, participants will have a clear understanding of available resources and leave with practical ideas—and a draft plan—for incorporating experiential learning into a course.
