Andy has spent countless late days working alongside the Student Housing Staff and Housing Custodial Staff to ensure our Student Housing facilities were ready for our students. Thanks to his dedication and team’s hard work, we had a successful move-in experience for our residents. Throughout the month, we experienced early move-ins, last-minute room switches, and unexpected cleaning changes. Andy consistently went above and beyond to accommodate these changes, adjusting his schedule and coordinating his team to ensure every room was cleaned and ready for its new resident. I cannot thank Andy enough for the extra effort he has put forth to make sure every student has a clean, welcoming room to begin the year on a strong note. Beyond his outstanding work ethic, Andy has also been a calming presence to other professional Housing Staff during the stressful periods surrounding early arrivals and move-in. His positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to step up when needed have made a tremendous difference to both our staff and our students. Andy truly exemplifies what it means to be an exceptional staff member and a valued member of our team. His dedication to our students and commitment to providing an outstanding experience make him highly deserving of this recognition.
Celeste has been in RO for a very short period of time but has made a huge impact in learning various tasks and responsibilities. She has been willing to get in there and try things and provide support to others. Just recently finished getting through most of the summer degree conferrals in the first week that were able to be processed. This is very helpful to students and helping them on their next chapter. Great work Celeste!
Chrysanthemum was so generous with their time and their willingness to help me. I was seeking guidance for an upcoming project and they were able to give so many valuable tips. Their tips will safe so many headaches down the road. I really appreciate them taking the time to assist another department.
In the short time Dominick has been in the department, he has quickly become a dependable part of the team. His hard work during the summer cleaning was outstanding.
I am highlighting Greg because as part of the grounds team is such an amazing team player. The crew makes time to help me when the clock is ticking and we are in the last minute, every time. They are always kind and very helpful when they show up to help as well. I can never thank them enough for being so committed to keeping all the departments up and running.
On the evening of August 20th, 2026, a bear got into a dumpster near the Student Union and drug trash out everywhere. Realizing the following day was move-in for incoming students and their families Officer Isaac Tillery cleaned up the trash realizing it would reflect negatively in the FLC image and first impressions. Even though not in his job description, he understood the importance of first impressions and went above and beyond. Nice work!
Over these summer months Jenica has been incredibly supportive of students that have found their way to TRIO SSC. Her effort to connect folks to meaningful resources, and to just hear them out has had a tremendous impact: one student shared that her interaction with Jenica is the main reason she will be returning this fall. Thank you, Jenica, for prioritizing what matters most!
John has the floors in biology looking AMAZING, yet again. He does the most incredible job keeping our department looking terrific, we get all of the tours through our main hallway and it looks like you're walking on glass. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
John is such a valuable employee on our night custodian team. I would like to give him a special recognition for his recent floor project on Biology main floor. This floor has been quite the talk on campus on how flawless and exceptional it looks! I tell John a million times how well of a job he does on his floor projects on campus, but a million times is not enough! Thank you, John, for all your hard work, dedication, and the pride you take in the work you do! Your work on the concrete floors has made a noticeable difference and highlights the awesome work you do here at Fort Lewis. The number of compliments you have received on this floor have been amazing and you deserve all the credit and recognition! Good job John and I hope you always know how much your hard work is appreciated and valued!
During the week of August 17-21 Kim Angel worked tirelessly on the parking permit system and showed up in person at check-in to provide FLC students/faculty/staff to provide excellent customer service. She stayed late several days that week and came in early to ensure the job was done. Nice work!

I want to start by recognizing the tremendous support and effort that each of SHS’s partner offices has provided as we head into our two busiest weeks of the year. Their willingness to step in, collaborate, and help us maintain stability during a time of significant change and short staffing has made a meaningful difference. In particular, I’d like to extend a special thanks to Mackie Noonan, whose efforts on 8/13 were nothing short of herculean. Having previously served as an SHS Specialist, her support helped bring our station back to a sense of normalcy during an especially demanding week, and I am incredibly grateful for her willingness to step up and help our team in such a monumental way.
Margery did an amazing job this summer getting the halls ready while cleaning for conferences and orientations. The halls look great and talking to new students and parents, they wer very happy with their accommodations. Thank you!

Mike was an integral part of cleaning the halls this summer. His dedication and experience helped the department get through a very challenging cleaning. The students and parents were very pleased with the appearance of their rooms.
Parker generously volunteered his time to pick up two first-year students from Alaska at the Durango airport as they arrived to begin their journey at Fort Lewis College. Traveling alone and thousands of miles from home, these students faced a significant transition. Parker ensured they had a welcoming, smooth, and stress-free start to their college experience. His kindness, reliability, and willingness to go above and beyond not only supported the students during a vulnerable moment but also provided tremendous peace of mind to their families. Parker's actions reflect the compassion and dedication that make a lasting impact on our students and community.
The whole Talent Search team stepped up so much this semester to keep our program functioning and, more importantly, ensuring our students had the resources they needed, after the sudden loss of our beloved teammate. They kept services going and institutional requirements fulfilled when I took leave and they were amazing supporters for the whole community as we grieved with students, families, partners, friends, and Eli's loved ones. I couldn't have asked for a more outstanding team to navigate such a shocking and sad event. Peyton has kept the Talent Search program going at many points throughout her time here; her steadfastness and calmness this semester helped keep the program, our team, and me supported and moving forward. Jon jumped in the deep end with us and took on more students any time he was asked in his first year while he's still learning everything, He brought a lot of needed levity and 3D printed thingamajigs to a really difficult time. Mark is always willing to step in to help the students and his enthusiasm keeps everyone uplifted.
