The FLC Orchestra is open to any student with string experience (violin, viola, cello, bass) who wants to continue making music in college! First-year students are part of the regular ensemble, performing with a community of passionate music makers. You must be able to read music to be successful. – Specific meeting time: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 – 4:05 pm.

The FLC Concert Band is open to any student with wind, percussion, or string bass experience who wants to continue making music in college! First-year students are part of the regular ensemble, and perform with a community of passionate music makers. You must be able to read music to be successful.

In this interactive First Year Launch course, you will explore the key principles of improv comedy - like collaboration, active listening, and thinking on your feet - to build confidence, learn some of the how to college finer points, strengthen communication skills, and foster a sense of belonging here at FLC. Through games, scenes, and reflective discussions, you will connect with peers, have the opportunity to lean in to your creativity, and learn how the “yes, and” mindset can support academic growth, resilience, and meaningful engagement at school and beyond. No performance experience required - just a willingness to jump in and say “yes!”

Theatre is immediate, alive, and inspiring! This course is a blend of experiential “on-your-feet” learning, plus lectures.  We’ll explore theatre histories, and experiment with acting, playwriting, designing, and directing. Through hands-on mini-projects, seeing live theatre, reflections, and engagement with campus resources, students will explore, grow, and be creative together. No previous theatre experience is necessary! 

This Launch class is your chance to get your hands dirty working behind the scenes on an FLC Theatre Department Production. Students will learn new skills working in the Costume and Scene Shops. No previous experience necessary! We'll be preparing two Fall productions - a musical Ordinary Lives, a musical and A Midsummer Night's Dream! Students will enjoy building relationships with their peers as they are mentored by theatre faculty and learn theatre skills.
