Program Director, Dr. Les Sommerville, works with 2011-12 research trainee, Nellie McLean.

The Maximizing Access to Research Careers Program at Fort Lewis College (FLC MARC) is funded by a research training grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, one of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  The MARC grant is currently under renewal review by NIH and is not accepting new students at this time.

The objective of this honors undergraduate research training program is to prepare underrepresented (such as Native American, African American, Hispanic, and Pacific Islander) students majoring in scientific disciplines to pursue Ph.D.s and long term careers in biomedical or behavioral science research.   Faculty mentors at FLC train a small group of highly qualified junior and senior under-represented students in an honors program strong in research opportunities and science curriculum.

The FLC MARC program is a Research Trainee Program for Juniors and Seniors.
