Kiki HootonKiki Hooton

Assistant Director, Event and Conference Services

Kshooton@fortlewis.edu

Hometown: Charlotte, North Carolina

Kiki was born and raised in North Carolina where she grew to have a love for the outdoors. She graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Technology and Management and a minor in Toxicology. While very passionate about the environment, she found that most of her program was focused on cleaning up messes instead of finding solutions. After graduating she moved across the country to Arizona to get her Masters in Sustainability Solutions. It was here she found a deep passion for creating community as a solution to many of the world’s problems. She moved to Durango after completing her master’s to focus on community building, which landed her in many jobs related to event planning and coordination, from community bike rides and dinners to Noel Night. As the Assistant Director of Event and Conferences Services she is excited to bring together students, campus departments, and off-campus partners to create connection and community at FLC. Outside of work you’ll find her biking, running, skiing, reading, or baking.

Hometown: Dover, New Hampshire

Lainey graduated from Fort Lewis College with a Bachelor’s Degree in English/ Communications and a focus in Social Media Marketing. After graduating, she worked as a wedding coordinator, ski area marketer, library assistant, and radio journalist before returning to the Fort. If there is an event, rally, educational opportunity, or gathering in the community, you can almost guarantee Lainey is involved in it. She found her love for volunteering and community involvement through pageantry, which gave her the opportunities to represent New Hampshire on the Miss Collegiate America stage and Colorado at the National Sweetheart Pageant. Lainey has an open door policy and wants to create an open, welcoming space for students, faculty and staff, or community members to feel supported. When not running around campus, you can find her skiing, racing cars, hiking and camping, practicing martial arts (her training name in her ninjutsu dojo is Chishi Hana, or Deadly Flower), or perfecting a gluten free recipe. Her phone is filled with pictures of her cat, Rosalyn, who is the true queen of the house.
