Become prepared to succeed as a performer, educator, promoter, or producer in today's musical world. Our small classes, never taught by graduate assistants, provide you with individualized attention. The Music Program faculty is unequaled by any comparable institution in the Rocky Mountain Region.

Join us for a special day on campus! Experience FLC Music and everything we offer. PLEASE NOTE: This experience is only available during our Fall and Spring Semesters when school is in session. Please check the academic calendar to see if your visit plans align with our class schedules.

What is included

  • Admission information session
  • Campus tour
  • Music Department tour
  • A private lesson on your instrument or voice with your prospective teacher
  • A tour of our performance, recording, and practice spaces with a professor
  • The opportunity to sit in on music courses (options vary)
  • Opportunities to meet our students, faculty, and guest artists that might be on campus that day
  • Admission to Performing Arts Department performances and events during your visit
  • The option to audition for the program during your visit (can submit virtual auditions later!)

How to sign up

  1. Sign up for a 1 pm Daily Campus Tour
  2. Select Music from the Primary academic interest dropdown
  3. Near the bottom of the form, you will see an option to sign up for Music Major for a Day.
  4. We will reach out to confirm your request and discuss options.

Music program students will experience the following learning outcomes:

  • Musical Mastery (Problem Solving, Communication, and Professionalism)
    • Students will perform with technical proficiency (performance majors: advanced technical proficiency) on their major instrument.
    • Students will demonstrate musicianship skills at a level supporting careers in music teaching, music business, and/or performance.
  • Examining Musical Practices (Problem Solving)
    • Students will analyze, create, and communicate about music of a variety of cultural and historical contexts at a level supporting careers in music teaching, music business, and/or performance.
  • Community Engagement (Communication and Professionalism)
    • Students will use public music-making as a means for engaging communities and creating cultural awareness. 
  • Professionalism (Professionalism)
    • Students will generate professional materials appropriate for developing careers in music teaching, music business, and/or performance.
    • Students will apply consistently the core principles of respect, responsibility, and accountability.
