What it's like to study music at FLC

Charissa Chiaravalloti, Associate Professor of Music

"At FLC, students pursue their musical dreams while developing their individual skills. We also love to create and collaborate through coursework, musical performances, and local and international community outreach. "

A community of opportunity

Between chances to perform on campus and in Durango, and the opportunity to learn from professional musicians serving as guest artists, you’ll have an abundance of musical experience under belt before you graduate.

Performance

You will have the opportunity to perform in the symphonic band, chamber orchestra, percussion ensemble, jazz ensemble, concert choir, men’s choir, chamber choir, and other instrumental and vocal chamber ensembles.

San Juan Symphony Orchestra

Upper-division string students are able to audition for the San Juan Symphony Orchestra. The SJSO is a semi-professional orchestra whose members come from Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado.

Artist in Residence Program

The program presents a variety of concerts and master classes by guest artists to enhance your musical education. An endowment has been established to support the program and has grown to well over $100,000.
