Dual admission to the Fort Lewis College Music Program

Admission to FLC's Music Program is a dual admission process. Application for admission to the College is through the Admission Office, and formal admission to the Music Program is through an audition. While you can audition and be accepted into the Music Program before admission to the College, that does not guarantee admission to the College, and vice versa.

Dual admission process:

  1. Apply for admission to Fort Lewis College.
  2. Submit a Supplemental Application Form.
  3. Schedule your audition: A music faculty member will contact you to schedule your audition. On-campus auditions are preferred; video auditions are available with department chair approval.
  4. Audition: Expect your audition to last about ten minutes. All students should prepare:

    • Scales
    • Technical exercises
    • Two contrasting solo pieces

Additional requirements vary by area of study:

    Vocal audition requirements

Perform two contrasting selections from the art song, opera, oratorio, or musical theater repertoire. All selections must be memorized, with the exception of oratorio pieces. A cappella auditions are not permitted.

    • Folk Songs for Solo Singers (Alfred)
    • The Singer's Musical Theatre Anthology (Hal Leonard)
    • First Book of Broadway Solos (Hal Leonard)

You may also be asked to sight-read a short melodic and/or rhythmic excerpt. Please send electronic copies of your music at least two weeks before your scheduled audition to eroh@fortlewis.edu. Contact Dr. Eun Ah Roh with any repertoire questions.
