Angel Gonzales
Graduate Intern

Angel is Diné (Navajo) from the Navajo Nation in Arizona. She is a student with Adams State University enrolled in their Clinical Mental Health Counseling Masters program. Angel is an alumni from Fort Lewis College and graduated with her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. She has background working in the community by way of an internship with Alternative Horizons as a victim’s advocate for survivors of domestic violence. Angel is passionate about destigmatizing mental illness in Indigenous communities. With her background of living on the reservation and lived experience as an Indigenous woman, she wants to be able to integrate her cultural practices and teachings into the counseling space.

During her free time, Angel enjoys reading a good book, doing beadwork and making jewelry, going out to coffee shops and bookstores, and playing with her dog Olive. Angel strives to create a safe and nonjudgemental space for students to come through and talk through their everyday life and the frustrations and hardships it brings.
