Individual counseling sessions

A cairn on a trail in the mountains.

There are as many reasons to seek counseling as there are clients. You’ll explore personal challenges with a counselor at your own pace in one-on-one, confidential dialogue.

Your counselor will ask questions to understand your concerns and how they fit into your life and worldview to support you in navigating your life.

You don't have to face life's challenges alone.

Sessions are free for all students.

How counseling appointments work

The Counseling Center hours begin at 8 am for calls, appointments, and drop-in appointments. We book sessions as far as two weeks out. Telemental health sessions are also available.

Traditional counseling sessions (50 min)

You begin counseling with an intake session. You'll fill out paperwork and your counselor will ask background questions. The intake also gives us a chance to match you with the best counselor for your needs. You can schedule follow up sessions after the intake.

Let's Talk sessions (20 min)

You can schedule or drop in for concerns that require immediate attention or a consultation that’s not a therapy session. We talk about your needs and next steps to help you.

Additional individual services

Advocacy/Case Management

Work confidentially with an Advocate/Case Manager to help you find the supports and services you need to succeed. They can connect you with on- and off-campus resources.

Services include but are not limited to wellness, diversity awareness, education, Title IX concerns, wrap-around care with other campus departments, and connections to community-based services.

Confidential sexual assault services

Discuss and process instances of sexual assault or violence with a trained professional in a safe, confidential space. Maybe you don't know if your experience "counts" as sexual violence, or you're concerned about the impact of talking about it, or you want assistance with the next steps.

Find support and create a plan to move forward in safety and healing. Any action you wish to take, including making a report, is up to you.
