The Student Life Center is unique in its architecture and sustainable design. The facility was recognized as a 2002 NIRSA Outstanding Sports Facility Award Recipient and the 2003 Recreation Management Innovative Architecture Award Winner.
The NIRSA Board of Directors and the NIRSA Outstanding Sports Facilities Committee are proud to present annual awards for creative, innovative designs of new, renovated, or expanded collegiate recreational facilities. Each winner is considered a standard or model by which other collegiate recreational facilities should be measured, and from which others can benefit. Judges evaluate each facility for its architectural design, functionality, and how well it meets its intended purpose.
A panel of expert judges considers each nomination on its own merit, concentrating on its recreational value, indoor and outdoor appearance, and originality of the design, craftsmanship, and functional and operational elements. Ultimately, the winners are selected based on originality, creativity, uniqueness and project value.
