Merit-based scholarships

As a first-year student, you’ll automatically be considered for merit-based scholarships once you’re admitted – no additional application necessary! These scholarships are based on your cumulative high school GPA on a 4.0 scale. Awards range from $6,000 - $10,000 per year and are renewable for up to four years. Students may only receive one merit tuition scholarship.

Institutional Scholarships

FLC automatically determines eligibility for and applies The Professor's, Dean's, Provost's and Presidential tuition scholarships during admission. Consideration is based on high school GPA. Awards range from $2,000 to $5,000 per year for in-state students, and $6,000 to $10,000 for out-of-state students, and are renewable for up to four years.

New Mexico Reciprocal Scholarship

For residents of New Mexico

New Mexico residents with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 are automatically awarded the New Mexico Reciprocal Scholarship, which lowers the out-of-state tuition to the in-state rate. For the 2020-2021 academic year, the NMR is valued at $10,656 per year, reducing tuition to $7,056. The NMR scholarship is renewable for four years and cannot be combined with other tuition merit scholarships.

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Scholarship

For residents of AK, AZ, CA, HI, ID, MT, ND, NM, NV, OR, SD, UT, WA, and WY, as well as Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands

This merit scholarship is awarded to students from WUE states with at least a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA. It reduces non-resident tuition to 150% of the in-state tuition rate. For the 2020-2021 academic year, the WUE scholarship is valued at $7,128, reducing tuition to $10,584. The WUE scholarship is renewable for four years and cannot be combined with other tuition merit scholarships.


Additional scholarships

Foundation, departmental, and alumni scholarships

Foundation & departmental scholarships are sourced from private donors and available to first-time degree-seeking undergraduate students based on academics, achievement, and financial need. These scholarships require their own application and are due on or before February 1 each year.

Our Alumni Engagement office provides scholarships to the children and grandchildren of FLC alumni. When you complete the application for foundation and departmental scholarships, you will be considered for the Alumni Scholarship.

Financial support for Native American students

Students who are members of US federally recognized Native American tribes may attend FLC tuition free with the Native American Tuition Waiver. Additional expenses still apply.

The Native American Center provides information on scholarships to support students with other expenses such as student fees, housing and meal costs, books, and any other fees.
