Multiple ways to fund your first year at FLC

Fort Lewis College offers several scholarship opportunities for incoming first-year undergraduate students. Depending on your GPA, residency, background, and financial need, you may be eligible for merit scholarships, Foundation and departmental scholarships, or specialized featured programs — and in many cases, you're considered automatically.

Merit Scholarships

Admitted first-year students, including those earning a GED, are automatically considered for merit-based tuition scholarships. These scholarships are based on a student’s cumulative GPA and are renewable for four years. You do not need to complete a separate application.

State Exchange Merit Scholarships

You can also receive a Merit Scholarship through the New Mexico Reciprocal Scholarship or the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Scholarship. Merit scholarships cannot be combined.

Students must maintain their Academic Standing (minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA) to renew scholarships for up to four years unless otherwise noted.

*Colorado Scholars must maintain a 3.0 GPA at FLC to renew the additional $3,000 scholarship for up to four years.

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Scholarship

The WUE scholarship is awarded to students from WUE states who have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.25. It reduces out-of-state tuition to 150% of the in-state tuition rate. For the 2026-27 academic year, the WUE scholarship is valued at $8,532, reducing out-of-state tuition to $12,492. The WUE scholarship is available to first-year students and is renewable for four years. It cannot be combined with other merit tuition scholarships.

WUE states include AK, AZ, CA, HI, ID, MT, ND, NM, NV, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

*Students who have taken their GED and earned a 165 or higher in all four subjects will be eligible to earn the WUE scholarship.

New Mexico Reciprocal Scholarship

New Mexico residents with a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0+ or who have taken their GED and earned a 165 or higher in all four subjects are automatically awarded the New Mexico Reciprocal Scholarship, which lowers out-of-state tuition to the in-state rate. The NMR Scholarship is renewable for four years and cannot be combined with other merit tuition scholarships.

For the 2026-27 academic year, the NMR is valued at $12,696.

Students must have applied to FLC by June 1 to be considered. After June 1, students can still be considered for the Presidential or Provost Scholarship, or WUE.
