First-year undergraduate scholarships
Fort Lewis College awards scholarships during the admissions process to help undergraduate students finance their college education.You can receive scholarships based on academic merit, through your major, and many other avenues. Explore your scholarship opportunities below.
First-year students are automatically considered for Merit Scholarships during the admission process. You do not need to complete a separate application.
Merit scholarships are based on your cumulative high school GPA, weighted or unweighted, on a 4.0 scale. The Financial Aid Office automatically renews these scholarships if the renewal criteria have been met. Merit scholarships are renewable for up to four years.
You can also receive a Merit Scholarship through the New Mexico Reciprocal Scholarship or the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Scholarship. Merit scholarships cannot be combined.

The WUE scholarship is awarded to students from WUE states who have at least a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA. It reduces out-of-state tuition to 150% of the in-state tuition rate. For the 2022-23 academic year, the WUE scholarship is valued at $6,912. Reducing out-of-state tuition to $10,800. The WUE scholarship is The WUE scholarship is available to first-year students and is renewable for four years. It cannot be combined with other merit tuition scholarships.
WUE states include AK, AZ, CA, HI, ID, MT, ND, NM, NV, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
New Mexico residents with a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 are automatically awarded the New Mexican Reciprocal Scholarship (NMR), which lowers out-of-state tuition to the in-state rate. For the 2022-23 academic year, the NMR is valued at $10,512 per year, reducing tuition to $7,200. The NMR scholarship is renewable for four years and cannot be combined with other merit tuition scholarships.
Foundation and Departmental Scholarships are sourced from private donors and provide financial assistance to our students. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on academics, achievement, and financial need.
The Alumni Scholarship comes from our Alumni Engagement office and is available to the children and grandchildren of FLC alumni.
