Become prepared to succeed as a performer, educator, promoter, or producer in today's musical world. Our small classes, never taught by graduate assistants, provide you with individualized attention. The Music Program faculty is unequaled by any comparable institution in the Rocky Mountain Region.

Join us for a special day on campus! Experience FLC Music and everything we offer. PLEASE NOTE: This experience is only available during our Fall and Spring Semesters when school is in session. Please check the academic calendar to see if your visit plans align with our class schedules.

Music program students will experience the following learning outcomes:

Musical Mastery (Problem Solving, Communication, and Professionalism)
- Students will perform with technical proficiency (performance majors: advanced technical proficiency) on their major instrument.
- Students will demonstrate musicianship skills at a level supporting careers in music teaching, music business, and/or performance.
Examining Musical Practices (Problem Solving)
- Students will analyze, create, and communicate about music of a variety of cultural and historical contexts at a level supporting careers in music teaching, music business, and/or performance.
Community Engagement (Communication and Professionalism)
- Students will use public music-making as a means for engaging communities and creating cultural awareness.
Professionalism (Professionalism)
- Students will generate professional materials appropriate for developing careers in music teaching, music business, and/or performance.
- Students will apply consistently the core principles of respect, responsibility, and accountability.

Upcoming music events

Haydn's "Creation" - FLC Choirs, Orchestra, and guests

Join us for a performance of Joseph Haydn’s eighteenth-century masterpiece for soloists, chorus, and orchestra, The Creation. Led by FLC’s Director of Choral Activities, Brendan Barker, the combined student choirs and orchestra will take to the Community Concert Hall stage along with professional musicians from across the country and many local volunteers from the Durango area. With an orchestra of fifty and a choir of eighty, the hall will resound with celestial beauty from the first miraculous “Let there be light” through a rapturous sequence of arias and choruses contemplating the natural beauty of the world around us. The trio of soloists includes FLC’s own Wesley Dunnagan as tenor, and Artists in Residence soprano Sarah Moyer and baritone David Newman. Get your seat before it’s too late!
