One of the original six dormitories on campus. Named after Silvestre Escalante a Spanish priest, missionary and explorer. He led an expedition through southwestern Colorado in 1776. One of the earliest reports of this region. The expedition traveled across the Animas River in what is now the southern part of the City of Durango.
