This space features a QSC touch control panel mounted to the front desk allowing for easy volume; camera, and display controls. Also mounted on the desk is a small network camera pointed at the students. Also facing the students is a huge built-in whiteboard on which the room's projector can display. Mounted at the back of the room are two 55" LG TVs and an AVer PTZ camera. Mounted int he ceiling is a Shure microphone array tile, making this space fully Zoom and Skyflex capable.
Some of our classrooms have additional TV screens on the side or at the back of the room. Many times there is a camera near the additional screens. With this arrangement, if there are remote students joining the class, they can be seen on the back TVs. When the professor looks at that screen, the relative position of the camera makes the remote student feel like the professor is looking at them.
The AVer TR530 PTZ camera is USB connected to the classroom PC for use in video conferencing applications such as Zoom. The camera has pan, tilt, and zoom capability which are controlled with a touch panel or a remote. They do have a simple tracking feature that can be enabled or disabled.
Q-SYS is a programmable AV Control platform. The CATS team has two Q-SYS certified AV engineers on staff, allowing us to troubleshoot, redesign, and adapt the room's control panel.
Starting with Schlessman in 2023, Q-SYS has become the new standard system for controlling the equipment in the teaching space.
The NC 110 is a wide-angle camera that is typically installed at the front of the classroom to capture the view of the students.
The camera can be controlled by the Q-SYS Touch Screen Controller found on the podium. The camera should default to a wide view, but allows for digital panning, tilting, and Zooming.
These microphones are an array of multiple mics to pick up all the voices in the room. These microphones are connected to the Built-in PC for use in video conferencing software such as Zoom.
