Fort Lewis College uses PacketFence for network access control. The Packet Fence system ensures that the Fort Lewis network is protected. PacketFence monitors devices as they connect to the network, either wirelessly or wired.

Network connected gaming consoles, entertainment equipment or Smart Televisions, and Internet-connected entertainment devices should be connected to a wired port if available and the MAC address be registered at thefort.fortlewis.edu under Smart TV and Gaming Registration Icon.

If you receive an error after entering your MAC address and you are certain that you entered it correctly, then send an email to askIT@fortlewis.edu with your device name, MAC address, manufacturer and model and the help desk staff will assist you with connecting your device to the network.

Important Information

  • Wireless Printers are supported on the network, but many of these devices come with HP wireless direct and Wi-Fi Direct enabled/turned on and must be disabled/turned off to reduce Wi-Fi interference which can disrupt wireless connections.
  • Early Wi-Fi streaming devices such as 1st and 2nd gen Chromecast devices are not compatible with our wireless network.
  • Some Nintendo devices must be plugged into the wired network. You will need to purchase the Wii LAN adapter.
