Fort Lewis College uses Packet Fence for network access control. The Packet Fence system ensures that the Fort Lewis network is protected. Packet Fence monitors and scans new devices as they connect to the network, either wireless or wired.

Macintosh

 Windows

1.  Select the Fort Lewis College wireless connection.

2. You will be prompted for your Fort Lewis username and password. Some windows systems will see a warning about the connection.

Click the details button and verify that the server is *.fortlewis.edu.

            If the Server is *.fortlewis.edu, then proceed and click connect.

3.  Once connected, open your browser and the scan should be initiated. Once the scan completes successfully, you will be able to access the internet.

 

Macintosh

1. Select the FortLewis_Secure wireless connection.

2.  You will be prompted for your Fort Lewis username and password.

Click the Show Certificate button.

If the server is a *.fortlewis.edu, then you can proceed to click Continue.

 3. Open your browser and you should initiate the scan. The scan can take up to 5 min. Once the scan completes successfully, you will be able to access the internet.

 

Mobile Devices

Mobile Devices can vary greatly, but the steps should be similar to a computer.

1. Connect your device to the Fort Lewis College wireless connection.
2. You will be prompted to enter your Fort Lewis username and password.
3. You might see a message about the Certificate and you will have to accept the Certificate.
4. Then open your browser and the scan should be initiated.
5. Once the scan completes successfully, you will be able to access the internet.
