This space, last updated in 2024, is equipped with a QSC touchscreen control panel that allows for easy volume; camera, and screen control, mounted on the new podium. Facing the students are two white boards on either side of an 80" Dell touchscreen TV, along with a small network camera mounted atop said TV. At the back of the room are mounted two 42" LG TVs and a QSC controlled PTZ Camera. There is a microphone bar mounted to the ceiling, making this space fully Zoom and Skyflex capable.
Some of our classrooms have additional TV screens on the side or at the back of the room. Many times there is a camera near the additional screens. With this arrangement, if there are remote students joining the class, they can be seen on the back TVs. When the professor looks at that screen, the relative position of the camera makes the remote student feel like the professor is looking at them.
The Dell Touch TVs allow for touch and pen interactions with a connected device. The Built-in PCs in the classroom are wired to the screens. The screens are not smart in anyway, they just provide a touch interface with a connected computer. In a few rooms there is a USB cable with the HDMI cable. Connecting that paired USB cable allows your laptop to use the camera and microphones for the room.
With Schlessman Family Hall, the CATS team has been able to start constructing our own modern podiums using the QSYS AV system. The newest podiums come in two sizes:

Q-SYS is a programmable AV Control platform. The CATS team has two Q-SYS certified AV engineers on staff, allowing us to troubleshoot, redesign, and adapt the room's control panel.
Starting with Schlessman in 2023, Q-SYS has become the new standard system for controlling the equipment in the teaching space.
The NC 110 is a wide-angle camera that is typically installed at the front of the classroom to capture the view of the students.
The camera can be controlled by the Q-SYS Touch Screen Controller found on the podium. The camera should default to a wide view, but allows for digital panning, tilting, and Zooming.
The Q-SYS PTZ cameras are positioned to capture the podium area. These cameras are controlled from the Q-SYS Touch Panel Controller on the podium. The PTZ designation stands for Pan, Tilt, and Zoom allowing for repositioning of the view.
